ABOUT ABOUT

Morning Series Session Descriptions

VANGUARD YOUR HEALTH
During this session, campers will gain insight into the world of nursing by participating in mock clinical observation sessions. Campers will also work through interactive hands-on skills labs to learn and practice various nursing techniques on manikins. In addition, students will have the opportunity to engage with an educational panel to ask questions and discuss nursing as a career path.

THAT’S A WRAP
In this session, campers will learn about safety, infection prevention and first aid taught by the ASU-Beebe Regional Career Center Medical Professions instructor.  If you have ever been interested in learning about First Aid, here is your chance to learn! Campers will also get to create a first-aid kit that they can take home.

FEEL THE HEAT
Fire Camp is dedicated to exposing school age kids to what it is like to be a firefighter with the Searcy Fire Department. This camp is designed to be fun, challenging, entertaining and educational; all at the same time. The lessons and activities will center on the day and life of a firefighter and fire and life safety issues, as well as CPR, search and rescue, and many other interesting topics.

RAPID RESPONSE
Rapid Response Camp is for campers interested in exploring career options in emergency medical services and healthcare. Held on the ASU-Beebe Searcy Campus, Rapid Response Camp is a unique experience that allows campers to interact with some of White County’s top EMS and healthcare experts and gain hands-on experience with patient assessments, rescue techniques, and treatment of real-life medical traumas using patient simulators.

EYE IN THE SKY
This drone session for kids and teens was specifically designed to open the door into both the present and the future. Fly away with Mitch as he educates students in White County on both the application and usefulness of drones. In this class, students will learn how to create and plot paths for drones. This is a one-of-a-kind summer camp that will require hands-on-learning, adventure, and innovation.

THINGS BEES MAKE I
Bee products include more than just honey! How many can you think of? When people think “what do bees make,” most would say honey, but it does not stop there. In fact, bees produce and collect many different elements that are the fruits of their labor. We will look at the many bee products and byproducts, including the following: honey, nectar, beeswax, pollen, bee bread, propolis, royal jelly, bee venom, and beehive air.

Afternoon Series Session Descriptions

THE SOUND OF SCIENCE
Do you like music AND want to learn about science? This interactive session uses Mr. Parr’s Science Song videos focusing on the heart, the circulatory system, and various other organ systems to bridge the gap between music and science (STEAM). Campers will also work as a team to write their own lyrics to set to music.

VANGUARD CSI
Police investigations are an important part of the criminal justice system. We will take a sneak peek at the many ways police officers investigate crime, including: the crime scene, interviewing witnesses, law enforcement observations, physical and forensic evidence, and interrogations.

KEEP IT COOL
Ever wonder about the science behind the heating and cooling of your house or car? It’s definitely a science, maybe, even a little bit of chemistry and physics! In this class Brad will show you how it all works with some cool experiments and tricks!
