ASU-Beebe VDC Morning Series Session Descriptions
BACKYARD ECOLOGIST
ASU-Beebe’s own Jake Marquess will lead this interactive session where campers will learn about local flora and fauna. They will discover insects, birds, and amphibians that can be found in their own backyards.
ART'TASTIC EXPERIENCE
This course is a means of creating art projects using a wide variety of tools and techniques that involve science and math. This course is taught by ASU-Beebe Assistant Professor of Art Thomas Fernandez.
ANIMAL KINGDOM
Animal Kingdom Camp is for animal lovers who are interested in exploring a career as an animal care provider. Campers will discover what it takes to become a veterinary technician and will also explore many other animal-related jobs and pathways. As an added highlight, campers will interact with ASU-Beebe Vet Tech program staff members and animals.
THE LOW DOWN ON COMPOUNDS
In this session, campers will get a glimpse into the field of Pharmacy Technology. The session will be centered on using Units of Measure (Milliliter, Liters, Grams, Kilograms) to calculate dosages. Various "tools of the trade" will be used to measure ingredients used in Pharmacy, and campers will also have hands-on practice of counting “medications.”
A MOMENT OF MUSIC
In this session, campers will discover the workings of a few instruments and how they are used to create music, learn about harmony, listen to a live demonstration, talk about the magic of music and how it can lift your mood, and help the instructor to create a song (which they can help sing before they leave).

ONE BYTE AT TIME
In this hands-on session, campers will learn how to create a computer from the ground up, learning how each component functions as they assemble the machine.
VANGUARD CSI
Police investigations are an important part of the criminal justice system. We will take a sneak peek at the many ways police officers investigate crime, including: the crime scene, interviewing witnesses, law enforcement observations, physical and forensic evidence, and interrogations.
VANGUARD CHEF PART I
Walk the grocery store aisles with Chancellor Methvin! Grocery shopping can be intimidating and overwhelming, but it does not have to be! Let Chancellor Methvin take the stress away by walking you through making the best food choices, showing you how to read labels, introducing new ingredients, picking out healthy on-the-go options, answering your questions and providing grocery shopping and meal planning tips. VANGUARD CHEF PART II
ASU-Beebe's Chancellor, Dr. Jennifer Methvin, demonstrates her culinary skills in the kitchen utilizing a variety of STEAM related skills and highlighting the fact that cooking is as much math and science as it is art. In this session, Dr. Methvin will demonstrate how science can transform common ingredients into a delicious feast.

Use your imagination to explore new and exciting parts of the world! Come have a blast with Ryan, Jason, and Hope! Find out what it takes to be a successful musical theatre singer or actor. If you are new to Theatre, it might be helpful to know that our session will focus on building acting skills, creating characters, improvisation, stage direction, and stage and costume creation!
