Show off your creative side at one of ASU-Beebe's summer camps! We are offering six weeks of camp sessions at three campus locations: Heber Springs, Searcy, and Beebe. Class sizes are limited so enroll your camper today!

SEARCY WEEK ONE: June 15-19, 2020

MORNING SESSION (8am-12pm) - PULSE Medical Week

Cost $80

Ever wondered what it would be like to experience the life of a medical professional?! This science-based camp explores medical professions including being a nurse, an EMT, a Paramedic and many others. Campers will “glove up” as they explore the world of medicine with weeklong activities including the opportunity to look “behind the scenes” to see/ experience the tools and techniques used by medical professionals to save lives every day. The camp includes a session about nutrition, a trip to Unity Health hospital and other interactive activities to experience the field of medicine. On Friday, campers and their families can observe a simulated EMS scenario to watch first responders in action. The simulation will include ASUB's EMS instructors, students, and community partners. Join us during PULSE WEEK to experience a day in the life of someone in the medical field! Recommended for 4th – 8th grade.

AFTERNOON SESSION (1pm-5pm) - VDC Police Academy

Cost: $80

Ever wondered “Who done it?” Be introduced to the world of forensic science and take a behind-the-scenes look at criminal investigations and uncover a series of "who done it" combining chemistry and forensic techniques. Campers learn the importance of collecting bits of evidence that can help prove if someone is guilty or innocent. Using scientific principals and hands-on techniques, campers conduct experiments dealing with DNA, hair analysis, fingerprinting, impressions, casting, drugs and fluid spatter. Campers have the opportunity to meet and learn from seasoned professionals that make up a forensic team—police officers, detectives, coroner, search and rescue teams and their animals. Recommended for 4th – 8th grade.

ALL DAY SESSION (8am-5pm) - Manufacturing Your (M.Y.) Future Camp

Cost: $80

Here is today’s million-dollar question: what does a powered car, a hydraulic bridge, and a pastry have in common? No clue? Don’t worry because we’ve got your back! At this camp, you will get started with the fundamentals of mechanical and civil engineering in a matter of days to introduce you to the world of 3D design, machining, robotics, electricity and the many concepts that help our manufacturing world create new and exciting products used by consumers every day. The camp includes a scheduled tour of a local manufacturing plant to explore the new technology and innovation available in our cities. And the cool part? Working on a project to develop and create a take home souvenir. ***Campers will need to bring their lunch each day. Recommended for 7th – 10th grade.

SEARCY WEEK TWO: June 22-26, 2020

MORNING SESSION (8am-12pm) - What on EARTH?!

Cost: $80

Campers will explore the great outdoors and learn about Arkansas’ rich local flora and fauna in this science-based camp. This camp will provide the opportunity to collect water and field samples to bring back to the lab for examination under a microscope. The focus of this camp will be on the environment, recycling, and local ecology. Recommended for 4th – 8th grade

AFTERNOON SESSION (1pm-5pm) - Legends of the SeaPerch

Cost: $80

Water makes up over 70% of the Earth’s surface with 96% it being contained in the oceans. Even with that much water scientists are trying to find ways to keep our water sources free of debris. This camp provides students with the opportunity to learn about robotics, engineering concepts, problem solving/ teamwork, science, and mathematics (STEM) while building an underwater ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle)  that can pick up items off the “ocean floor”. If you like robotics and the challenge of maneuvering through water, sign up for this weeklong adventure that will get you hooked. Recommended for 6th – 10th grade. Careers Related to this exploration: Naval Architecture, Naval/ Ocean Engineering, Marine/ Chemical Engineering, Civil/ Mechanical Engineering

AFTERNOON SESSION (1pm-5pm) - "Lights, Camera, ACTION!"

Cost: $80

Theatre Camp offers a performance program for aspiring performers that allows campers the opportunity to explore the world of theatre! Campers have the opportunity to delve into different character roles and to explore different works of literature by playing games in a fun and creative environment. The camp will culminate in students performing a reader’s theatre based on common children’s storybooks for family at the closing ceremony. Recommended for 6th – 10th grade campers.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Drop-off time for morning session is 7:45am-8:00am, pick-up time is 12:00pm-12:15pm
Drop-off time for afternoon session is 12:45pm-1:00pm, pick-up time is 5:00pm-5:15pm
Snacks and drinks will be provided during morning and afternoon sessions
If your child would like to attend BOTH sessions, they may bring a sack lunch and eat in the University Cafe. Staff members will be present to supervise campers who stay for lunch.
